Pretty Stuff

trying this phone app again)

Here are a few batts of wool from all the washing, gnat picking, carding, dyeing, and carding I've been doing for the fiber guild meeting on Saturday. Kool-aid and food coloring were used to dye the giber. It will be interesting to see what colors the other ladies bring.

  1. Great job and it looks like all the little gnats were removed well. The colors turned out beautifully. It would be fun to see the other gals fiber, so pls take pictures.

    1. Thanks, Nancy. It just looks too good to felt. I'd love to be able to spin it.

    1. Some of it is quite nice, but some of the rest has a lot of noils. I'd keep the good stuff for spinning and felt the noily stuff.

    1. dyeing with Kool-aid is lots of fun. When you first take it out of the dye bath, it smells like the flavor of Kool-aid that was used. This is always fun when doing this with kids.

    1. The carded batts do look like cotton candy! They also remind me of a bowl of fruit--cantelope, watermelon, honeydew, and grapes

These batts weigh only about a third to a half ounce and measure about six and a half inches wide by about twenty to twenty-four inches long. The size depends on the size of the drum on the carder and how much fiber you load onto it.
