For Cathy

When You Wish Upon a Star

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

Music by Leigh Harline / Lyrics by Ned Washington

Performed in the Disney movie "Pinocchio" by Jiminy Cricket (Cliff Edwards)

1940 Academy Award for Best Original Song; ranked seventh in "100 Greatest Songs in Film History" by the American Film Institute.

  2. Oh, thanks, Cathy. That's always been one of my favorite songs. Besides the movie, we had a cassette of Disney songs that I played for the kids when they were little and it stuck with me.
