Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time. Thomas Merton

"Hey!!"

Yogi says  "What's a bun gotta do around here to get some fresh grub and a treat or two? And how 'bout some housekeeping while you're at it? "

(the electrical outlet on the wall is not as close to his enclosure as it appears in the photo; with the angle of the shot, it looks like his pen is about a foot wide, but it's actually about 5' x 2')

Yogi is doing well. He and Pants amuse themselves by playing a bit of tag when Yog's door is open. Pants passes a good bit of time reclining beside the enclosure and ventures inside when  the door is open if Yogi will allow it. I think they might become buddies.

The girls are coming along, but are still not quite themselves since the loss of Mopsy. Matilda is nipping ankles less and is interacting with the cats a bit more. Today she stopped by Yogi's enclosure and had some dialogue with him that consisted mostly of grumping at each other through the wire.

Gabby's progress is somewhat slower. She is still shy and a bit grumpy. She keeps to herself and quickly runs back into her space whenever any folk approach, buns and humans alike.

They all seem to get along better with one another outside where they are less territorial. Unfortunately, it has been either too hot for the buns to go outside or it's been raining. I guess things are just going to take time. In the meantime, I'd better go refresh everyone's hay, bring out the treats, and tidy up.

    1. You are certainly not the only one complaining about the heat. And I agree completely with your recent post about mosquitoes. They are so bad here!

    1. Rabbits are amazing animals. Back in BR (Before Rabbits) I used to think they were not much fun as pets, just seeming to lie around in cages, eat, poop, sleep. Boy, was I wrong! Just within a couple of days of getting our first bunny, LillieBun, I discovered what intelligent, inquisitive, and remarkable animals rabbits are. One of my favorite things to do is sit outside and observe them when they are in the playpens or here roaming in the house. Of course, sometimes I have to referee and put bunfolk in timeout.

  3. Finally able to catch up a bit...nice watercolor below and always fun to hear about your bunny adventures. They may come around to each other in time as they get used to each other, too bad it's still so hot! This summer is just a scorcher here too. Can I look forward to fall yet?
    Smile today. :)

    1. Things are improving with the girls. Gabby and Matilda are getting along pretty well. My time constraints have kept me from really letting all three of them play together enough to see if there's going to be trouble.

      Try to stay cool. :)

  5. My long comment did not publish, so will try again.

Have you tried to draw/watercolor Yogi? From the neat pictures you have shown before of your buns, it looks as if their rounded lines would lend well to a sketch, then some color...purple? to shade their inner ears. Just a thought...

    1. Nothing yet with Yogi. A few weeks ago, I did try to sketch Matilda with watercolor. I had a photo of her that I really like and was just playing around with the paints. With her dark Californian nose, the sketch is rather humorous. She appears to have a really big nose. I haven't finished it, but showed it to my instructor and she thinks I should give it a go. Been trying to get around to it.

  6. Getting all the furry ones to get along can be a job. It we could only teach them to clean their own houses. Yogi is looking good!
